In this article we analyze the organic Rankine cycle (ORC) for the study of cogeneration, i.e. the simultaneous production of electrical and thermal energy.
Today, ORC cycles are used as an alternative to the use of fossil fuels that affect the environment and health. Reducing fossil fuel by using ORC cycles can enhance environmental quality, can reduces carbon emissions and the reliance on limited fossil fuels, and can save money in many situations. Moreover in all cycles based on wood-burning cogeneration process we have the advantage of clean elimination of wood wastes and creation of new job opportunities.
In this work we develop a parametric model for estimating the operative conditions of the ORC system and its efficiency. The model is created as a Scilab toolbox and is available to registered users only. For downloading the toolbox visit: Registered Users Area.
